Becky McKenzie. I have always been involved in sport one way or another, particularly in a male dominated environment. I left school to become a Flat Race Jockey, and trained at The British Racing School in Newmarket. Having set my targets at becoming a Jockey, and I succeeded to do this, after 6 years of this I then sought out a further more challenging sport to get my teeth into.

Motorcycle Road Racing. Another male dominated sport! I hade many good results against my male colleagues, my best being 2nd place against 31 men, in the 1000cc class at Mallory Park. At the end of my first year, I received the Most Outstanding Newcomer Award, at the East Midlands Racing Association Awards.

At this time, my partner introduced me to the sport of Clay Pigeon Shooting, what a mistake for him!! I was hooked straight away.

I started shooting in 2005, with a Winchester 6500 28". Starting my career with extensive Skeet training, then progressing to Sporting targets. I then proceeded to undertake the task of mastering F.I.T.A.S.C.

Having shot my County championships, I then proceeded onto more challenging competitions, to push myself to a higher level of shooting skills.

In July 2007 I invested in a Krieghoff K80 Supersporter, which I have now mastered, and in 2008, I have seen my hard work starting to pay dividends.

I have had to put in extensive physical training to better my personal performances, and this is also starting to pay dividends, particularly on the more challenging and demanding 150/200 bird shoots.

Paul Harrison. Probably the elder statesman of the Clayclo spnonsored shooters at 54 years old and holding a licence for over 33 years. I had a break from shooting whilst working away from home but, I’ve been back into my English Sporting Shooting at a serious level for the last 15 years. I’ve had various successes, winning my class at several Sporting Shoots along with several Club Competitions too. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to shoot for my county of Hereford and Worcester at Sporting too. I enjoy entering the Major British/English Opens and even the World Opens too, my dream would be to win one of these one day. I love shooting, the social side of meeting fellow shooters, I even got my other half, Tania into it too. Our daughter is not so keen…yet, but is a demon shot with an air rifle. Currently shooting a Browning 425 Grade 6 and using Fiocchi Fblue cartridges.

Faye Wills. ‘My name is Faye and I live in Kent. I am 27 years old and picked up a shotgun for the first time approximately ten years ago. I spent the following six and a half years shooting English Sporting and English Skeet. I have also represented my county three times at regional South East Inter Counties events, once at a National Inter Counties event, and gained a County Champion title:

2013: Kent English Sporting Team (regional and national)

2016: Kent English Skeet Team (regional)

2016: Kent Olympic Trap Team (regional)

2019: Kent Olympic Skeet Ladies Champion

After attending a Talent Identification Day in October 2016, I was invited to join the British Shooting Talent Programme to train for Olympic Skeet, which I was part of from April 2017 until November 2019.

In December 2017, as part of the University College London Elite Athlete Programme, and in 2019 as part of the Canterbury Christ Church University Sport Scholar Programme, I participated in the British Universities and Colleges Sports Clay Shooting Championship. In return for representing the universities, I benefited from strength and conditioning training as well as sports massage and sports nutrition for the remainder of the academic years. For the next 3.5 years during my PhD at Canterbury Christ Church, I continue to be part of their Sport Scholar programme as I aspire to compete at the World Championships and various other national competitions in English Sporting.

I aspire to be a role model for young people through this and my work as a secondary school teacher and Assistant Beaver Scout Leader, particularly to girls as a woman in sport.’
